About Us

My name is Rev’d Thomas CK Phiri, and I am an ordained Methodist Minister serving in the Aire and Calder Circuit of the Methodist Church in Britain. I am married to Sarah, who is a teacher by profession, and together we are blessed with three wonderful children: Nathanael, Elianah, and Thomas Jnr.

Before responding to God’s call to ordained ministry, I trained and worked as an electrician. I later pursued studies in Public Administration while serving in the Eastern part of Zambia, where I was ordained and began my pastoral ministry.

My family and I have been privileged to live and serve in Zambia, Jamaica, and now the United Kingdom. These experiences have broadened our understanding of God’s work across different cultures and communities and have deepened our appreciation of the global Church. Prior to moving to the UK, I served in the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, where I was involved in pastoral ministry, discipleship, leadership development, and evangelism.

I am currently privileged to serve as a Presbyter in the Aire and Calder Circuit, with pastoral oversight of this Church (Pontefract Methodist Church), alongside Wrenthorpe Methodist Church, Lindale Methodist Church, and Trinity Methodist Church, Netherton.

My passion in ministry is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and to help people grow in their faith. I have a particular interest in evangelism, pastoral care, discipleship, church growth, and community engagement. I believe that the Church is called to be a welcoming and transforming presence in the world, helping people encounter God’s love and grace in meaningful ways.

Whether you are a regular member, a newcomer, or simply exploring the Christian faith, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Pontefract Methodist Church. I hope that you will find here a caring and supportive community where you can grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and experience the love of God.
